This took place during the regional convention held from April 10 to 13, 2019, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. About one hundred Evangelistic Representatives (ERs) took part.
These heralds of the printed page will not soon forget the moments they spent at Nkolbisson Technical High School in Yaoundé. The first convention bringing together two Unions—the Cameroon Union and the Central African Union—was chaired by Pastor Abraham Obaya, Publishing Ministries director for the West-Central Africa Division (WAD).
For one of the participants, Pastor Thomas Elele, publishing director in West Cameroon, “the testimonies shared by the ERs were of great importance during the discussions.” Speaking of these testimonies, the story of Pastor Jean Marie Tchoualeu, former president of the Central African Union, particularly left a lasting impression. This former magistrate resigned from his position after reading a book that an ER had left in his home. He converted, was baptized, and exchanged his magistrate’s robe for that of a pastor.
Alongside various presentations, the gathering also provided an opportunity to present work reports. The Vie et Santé publishing house of France and Stanborough Press of England were able to display their products. The Yaoundé ER Club was honored for establishing four churches in previously unreached areas.
In the same spirit of recognition, several Gospel workers received awards for their outstanding service. They included Tchouya Jean, Engoulou Jeannette, Wandji Nathalie, Fekou André, Mbomo Shadrack, Minowouko Akoete, Bandadia Edmond Parfait, Mbarga Ngoumou, and Ndongzang Pierre.
In addition to crystal trophies, they also received clothing. Never before had such honors been bestowed upon these men and women who walk through rain and sunshine to spread the message of life. For Pastor Stephen Etta, “it is important to pause and acknowledge the efforts of each person and motivate them toward success.” Success, therefore, was the ultimate goal.
That is why, following the Yaoundé convention, a good number of these ERs traveled to Nanga-Eboko on April 11, 2019. There, on the campus of Cosendai Adventist University, they attended the “School of Success” for another two weeks.
