In collaboration with the GC, the Executive Secretary of the West-Central Africa Division organized a training and an evaluation exercise in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire at the Division Headquarters from the 26-30 May 2019.
In order to meet up with the World Church standards, the West-Central Africa Division Secretariat organized a combined meeting on the Division archives unit’s evaluation and a training session for the new office secretaries.
To the glory of God, 21 delegates attended with two facilitators from the GC, three Division Secretariat leaders and the WAD secretariat staff. All these participants came from the 10 Unions of our Division and the GC. They all appreciated both the evaluating exercise and the training session. According to Pastor Chris Annan-Nunoo, South Ghana Union Conference Executive Secretary, “We have come to learn record management and to keep and maintain our archives. It is a challenge because it is a new beginning to most and an upgrading to the field. We have to follow up and establish archives no matter how small it is. ”
In fact, the major event of the meeting being the evaluation of WAD archives unit, all attention was directed on that particular issue because for the past two years the executive secretary and his staff have been working hard to put things in place. This justify the presence of the GC facilitators who especially came to evaluate what has been done that deserve qualification and approval.
To promote and improve on this exercise, plans have been made to continue this archives evaluation and secretaries training gathering in all our Unions. It is in view of that, that both the executive and office secretaries of the Unions were invited to witness what is really going on.
Thus, the morning session was for the evaluation and the afternoon for the training. Looking at the efforts put in to get where we are and being the main organizer of the meeting, Pastor Kingsley Anonaba, the WAD Executive Secretary declared that: “I am working according to the strategic plan of the Division and when we take a closer look, we realize that what we dreamt to do, we have almost attended to all.” It is an encouraging statement that should motivate all the secretariat staff in our Division territory to move things ahead and meet up the World Church standards. For the ENUC Assistant Secretary, the meeting had been really a blessed one due to the lectures that were given. Looking at the past, she acknowledged that the program was a very nice program because participants were able to learn more on the issue of how to keep information as secretaries. “It is a nice meeting because there are a lot of things they have opened our eyes to. The secretariat of the World Church is going on digital and WAD must follow. From now on, we must digitalize everything we do. We are all happy that we were called to be part of this program. ”
In fact, all secretaries should implement this training in their various fields and operate from their systems into the record center. This exercise calls for diligent spirit that helps keep things organized.
