The ceremony took place on April 4, 2014, in the presence of the Regional Delegate for the Promotion of Women and the Family.
Adventist women in the East came to the aid of widows in the city of Bertoua and its surrounding areas. On April 4, 2014, they distributed food free of charge to about one hundred widows. The initiative took place on the sidelines of the Bertoua Central District Women’s Assembly, held from April 2 to 5. The ceremony, which drew a large crowd, was held at the Bertoua Central Adventist Church.
Each beneficiary received, among other items, packages of rice, flour, sugar, and salt. The total value of the donation was nearly 100,000 F CFA.
During the rainy season, this donation was particularly significant for these women, who often experience difficulties in meeting their food needs. They expressed their gratitude to the donors.
According to Mrs. Ngombé Gervaise, Director of Women’s Ministries of the East Cameroon Adventist Church Association, the donations were made possible through contributions from church members. These contributions were specifically directed toward supporting this vulnerable group.
The next stop will be Ndelele, from April 12 to 15, in preparation for the Adventist Women’s Assembly in that district. In addition to widows, orphans will also benefit from the initiative. “This responds to the Lord’s call to provide food for those who are suffering in society,” said the Director of Adventist Women’s Ministries.
The Regional Delegate for the Promotion of Women and the Family for the East, Mrs. Solange Metindi Mbessa, who attended the ceremony, used the opportunity to remind widows in particular, and women in general, of their role, rights, and responsibilities in society.
She commended the Adventist women for their gesture, which helped ease the suffering of the beneficiaries. Mrs. Solange Metindi Mbessa encouraged them to continue moving forward. The initiative is fully aligned with the objectives pursued by the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of the Promotion of Women and the Family (MINPROFF).
