Touch the Heart of the World
The work took place at the Adventist College of Yaoundé from June 30 to July 2, 2016. Mrs. Omobonike Sessou, Director of Women Ministries (WM) in West-Central Africa Division (WAD) chaired the session.
The theme "A ministry for every woman: touch a heart, tell the world" was the background to this consultation. The WM leaders from the four regional missions in Cameroon gathered in Yaounde. During the opening session, the president of the Adventist Church in Cameroon, Pastor Assembe Valere urged these women leaders to cling strongly to God and to each other. « This unity remains the key to the success of our testimony. »
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Omobonike Sessou reminded the various participants the prophetic vision of the message that is the essence of our movement as a Church. "We have a mission. We must announce to the world that Jesus is coming. We have been working for over 100 years for this message to reach the most remote corners of the world. That is true. But in this five-year period 2016-2020, the challenge is different. We must return to Jerusalem to reach more than ever the people around you without neglecting the global mission. "
In this line of thinking, Mrs Christine Bitti, director of the department in Cameroon and her colleagues from the North, Central and South, East and West Cameroon evaluated the work in the past five-year period . And as a result, they adopted a new action plan for the five-year (2016-2020) inspired by the Global Strategic Plan. Among other selected activities, they will effort towards the organization of the congress of Adventist women of Cameroon in 2018 in Ngaoundere in the North Cameroon Conference; the participation in the World Congress of the Children, Women and Family Ministries in 2017 in Hungary; the promotion of the program "End it now"; the training of women medical missionaries; the continuation of the construction of the Cameroon WM stewardship house and the house of the smaller brothers of Jesus.
One of the innovations has been the change of the slogan in French. Previously chanted: "Women for Christ, Lift Him up! Women for Christ, women of Valor! Women for Christ, touch a heart, tell the world! "The new slogan of the Women's Ministries today will sound differently on the last sentence that has introduced the notion of telling the close entourage the message of hope.
The council was completed by a visit of the construction site of the Women’s House of the Central South Cameroon Conference in Obala, a small suburb located 45 km from the city of Yaounde. And there was this enlarged meeting with other women on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the afternoon at the Adventist Temple of Djoungolo 2. The meeting ended with an intense prayer session for women, homes and families.
