Southern Ghana Union Ordains 18 pastors
The Southern Ghana Union Conference has ordained 18 pastors into the gospel ministry in a colourful ceremony held on December 5, 2015 at the Valley View University, Accra.
The ordinands were pastors who have been serving in the South Ghana Conference, and the Mid-South Ghana Conference of the Union. Speaking on the theme, “Kingdom Consciousness: my Calling and Responsibility”, Pastor Andrews Lawrence Ewoo drew on the lessons in 1Corinthians 4:16 and charged the newly ordained pastors to be imitators of Jesus Christ, so they can be an example to church members. “You can choose and learn to be a doctor, that is your choice, you can choose and learn to be an engineer, that also is your choice; but you can never choose to be a pastor. If you choose to be a pastor, you will fall by the wayside. Pastors are not professionals, there are chosen vessels of God Almighty. There are ambassadors with heavenly credentials to represent God on this earth, and as ambassadors, they must know Him who sent them,” Pastor Ewoo said. Drawing on what he called the Pauline Philosophy of Ministry – The Minister as an example for members because he is an imitator of Christ (Philippines 3:17; Ephesians 5:1; and Corinthians 4:16)-, Pastor Ewoo emphasised that a Pastor should always be an example to the church member.
He reminded the ordinands that ordination does not afford a license for heaven because even though Judas Iscariot was ordained by Christ, he will not be in heaven.
Mrs. Constance Larmie, President of Shepherdess International speaking to the wives of the ordained Pastors charged them to unite with their husbands to develop a ministry. “Remember you can fully rely of Jesus; His strength will give you everything you need to prepare your family and community for heaven.”
One of the ordinands, Pastor Anthony Melchizedeck, was grateful to God for His leading and said he was mindful of the task ahead. “There is more to do to help rescue the perishing, and after today I am not going to sit but to continually propagate the gospel“.
The newly ordained pastors include Pastors Francis Nana Tekyi, Michael Kwabena Lowas Prince Obed Sewor, Anthony Melchizedeck, Godswill T. Mensah, Amos Opong Afriyea, Samuel E. Thomson, Raphel Yaw Dankwah, Charles Kodua, and Isaac Adu-Amaokohene all of the South Ghana Conference.
The remaining are Pastors Daniel Sekyere, Charles Opong Afari, David Kedwo Ansong, John Boah-Akebo, Francis Polley, Aaron Adu, Daniel Danso and Benjamin Okyere.
