ODZA ADVENTIST SECONDARY SCHOOL
Provisional acceptance of a new building.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, December 6, 2015 on the campus of the institution in Yaounde. It was lead by the Contracting Authority, the Union Mission of Cameroon (UMCM) presided by Pastor Assembe Valere in the presence of the various Church Institutions’ Administrators.
The Ozda Adventist Secondary School (CSAO in French) just inaugurated a building composed of a basement, a ground floor and two floors on its campus at Odza, a wealthy neighborhood in Yaounde, the capital city of Cameroon. The architectural work worth nearly 150 million CFA francs will be used for classrooms, offices and specialized rooms.
In a very simple ceremony, participants from institutions such as the Cosendai Adventist University, the Adventist Printing office of Yaounde, the Yaounde Adventist Secondary School and a part of the CSAO’s teaching Staff sang. Then, Pastor Bone Jean, the UMCM’s treasurer gave a prayer. Successively, the CSAO’s Principal, Gaïmatakone Pierre, welcomed the visitors and described the context of the event. Then the Monitoring and Control Team led by the Engineer Bidala Abaniko presented the technical aspect of the project. In the end, the Contracting Authority, in the person of Pastor Assembe congratulated all the teams who worked hard" to make this building to come out of the ground."
It is the same spirit that animated the CSAO’s Principal: "We give thanks to God for making possible this project of faith He inspired us when we arrived in July 2012 in this institution, for the protection He granted to workers throughout the work site with the exception of two minor incidents: A worker who had a dislocation, and a little robbery on a Saturday morning"
As it was a provisional reception, there was the inevitable visit of the buildings for possible changes or improvements. The contractor Mendjongo André’s word, at the end of the visit, was a plea towards the Client to enable his company ‘Ets Metalex’ to recover from financial setbacks after suffering when performing Works. The keys were handed. The minutes will be drawn up in the meantime of final acceptance. Pastor Assembe gave a word of prayer to close the ceremony.
After fifteen years of existence, the CSAO cuts a fine figure at the heart of this wealthy neighborhood of Yaounde with the number of students which come close to three thousand students supervised by a staff of nearly 200 people. The School is under construction and has a good support of the Students’ Parents’ Association and Teachers (APEE in French). Other projects are in preparation to better the campus environment and make it more beautiful and welcoming; especially because there is space and willingness.
