The West-Central Africa Division held its usuel Mid-Year Meeting from the 1st to the 4th of May, 2017 in Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire.
During this meeting, many points were examined as result of the various reports presented. Despite the progress made, there are still some difficulties encountered due to certain factors, such as the large Muslim population in some of the countries of the division territory and also the presence of Boko Haram and terrorist groups. After all the observations that followed the various reports, a special emphasis was placed on the treasury, the Education and the Evangelism Departments.
Treasury reports.
For Elder Manu, it was long overdue to stress on the financial challenges some of the unions are encountering. And this situation, according to him, is due to the devaluation of some of our currencies in some countries of the Division territory. Because of this, he admonished union leaders to collaborate in order to make things better as they truly represent the Lord and serve Him. Elder Manu also advised them to be honest in little things, in so doing, they will properly manage the affairs of the Master. Without money, said the treasurer, it is impossible to go further as we plan to reach other places. We need money to finance campaigns and other projects and support workers in their various activities.
In the same Department, Elder Simeon Tanon Controller in the Treasury Department of the West-Central Africa Division was given an award by the GC for is diligent service.
Education department’s reports.
The Director of education in his address, stressed on how to manage well our educational institutions. Giving new orientations and a good management of these institutions were debated by the participants. From the observations that came out, all agreed to entrust them to the care of the leaders of these institutions for a proper use to make the educational system function as it should be.
Unions' reports.
After all these observations and other activities, participants had the occasion to appreciate the reports of each union leader. The occasion was given first to Pastor Assembe Valère,President of the CMUM, and then to Pastor Udoh, President of ENUC. These presentations were followed by that of the other 8 Presidents.
Out of all these reports, one could notice membership increase in all the Unions with emphases on evangelism. But despite all this, some challenges remain apparent such as Boko Haram terrorism in Northern Nigeria, in Central Africa Union with the problem of tribalism, political and social instability, in Eastern and Western Sahel Unions where we have more than 70% of Muslims. Facing these obstacles, plans have been made to overcome the situation so that the massage can reach many of these Muslim populations to the glory of God.
In the closing exercise Mid-Year meeting, Pastor Andrews Ewoo during his closing address, admonished participants to observe the following 10 life principles in order to be a good leader: 1- keep learning new things from God, 2- keep loving God, 3- keep laughing, 4- keep leaving the things of the past, 5- keep dreaming and longing for better things, 6- keep looking to Jesus, 7- keep laboring, 8- keep leaning on God, 9- keep listening to the voice of the Lord, 10- keep letting go every offense.
