GENERAL MANGER OF ADVENTIST SCHOOLS-GHANA RETIRES
The General Manager of Adventist Schools in Ghana, Elder Peter Yaw Frempah has retired after 22years of service in the Adventist Educational Unit. A retirement service was held in his honour on December 4, 2016 in Accra.
He had served the two Unions in Ghana representing the Church at the governmental level and promoting policies to improve Adventist education in Ghana. Earlier in his career, he had served for 13years working in the North Ghana Mission.
During his 9years as General Manager, he worked to provide a befitting national office and vehicle for the educational unit and lobbied church leaders to support and equip the regional educational unit. He also supervised the establishment of a fund that provided funds to rehabilitate old school buildings and supply furniture for schools.
Elder Frempah also held several leadership positions including been the National President of the Conference of Managers of Educational Units, the Regional Manager for SDA Schools for the then Southern Ghana Union Conference, the Education Director of the SGUC, and member of the Southern Ghana Union Executive Committee and the West Central Africa Division’s educational committee. He currently also serves as an Elder in his local church.
At the service, retired Pastor Abraham Peter Mensah said, the service should be regarded as a time of thanksgiving and appreciation by the General Manager and his family to God for his mercies bestowed them.
“Thus far has the Lord lead you to contribute your quota to help Adventist Schools in Ghana, Pastor Mensah said.
Testimonials and citations were read in his honour from the Southern Ghana Union Conference (SGUC), Northern Ghana Union Mission (NGUM), Accra New Town Church where he worship, Regional Managers of Adventist Educational Units, and the Conference of Managers of Mission schools.
Mr. Frempah in statement said he was grateful for all the support the Church had given him during his tenure of office which had very challenging times. “There were times I felt like giving up, but when tempted to do so, I get encouragement to look up to God for directions. I thank you for your words of encouragement which has pushed me this far.”
A prayer was offered by the President of the Northern Ghana Union Mission Pastor Kwame Kwanim Boakye to Mr. Frempah and the family.
The service which was organised by the Southern Ghana Union Conference saw officers and workers of the SGUC, NGUM, Valley View University (VVU), Conferences officers, field officers, regional officers, family and loved ones attending.
