First WAD Publishing Department Video Conference
The Department of Publishing Ministries of the West-Central Africa Division organized a video conference on Monday, November 30, 2015, from 10:25 am to 1:55 pm. 14 people from six Unions took part in this video conference of the publications council.
Pastor Abraham D. Obaya, Director of the Department of Publication Ministries of the WAD talks to us about this first video conference of his Department. “The Video conference registered 14 participants from six Unions. One Union tried to connect itself but couldn’t get through; we did not have information about three other Unions. It was a meeting of the council of WAD Publications. It was not about a particular topic with presentations. The Video conference is a great way of saving God’s money, of gathering people at lowest cost, and consequently an easy way of organizing meetings. I encourage my colleagues to use it. We had a very good interaction through the video conference. It was well organized and protocols were followed. We had several points on the agenda that we dealt with. Each point on the agenda was read by the meeting’s Secretary and then introduced by the president who opened discussions. Those who wanted to intervene raised their hands, introduced themselves and gave their contribution. It was wonderful, we had a good exchange. People were happy because we had a great opportunity for the first time in my Department.
Suggestions to colleagues
The suggestions that I would like to make to them is to follow the IT technicians’ instructions. It is very important to follow their instructions for the success of the video conference. They must follow these instructions before the conference starts and make the necessary preparations. And they need to follow the time. If we decide to start at 10 o'clock, everyone must be prepared by 10:00 GMT to start and end on time. We should be using this method more. We should plan to do our meeting through this method. If we do so, we will greatly reduce the physical meetings. We will no longer need to travel long distances, especially for combined meetings. We thank God who provided the tools, instruments and technology. ''
