The Advisory organised by the West Central Africa Division of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for the Northern Nigerian Union held from February 8
th to 9th 2017 in Bukuru, near Jos, Plateau State, headquarters of the North East Nigeria Conference.
It was attended by 11 Communications Secretaries of the Church and the Northern Nigeria Union Communications Director alongside the three Communications Directors of the three Conferences that constitute the Northern Nigeria Union.
14 participants attended.
The Communications Director of the West Central Africa Division, Pastor Irineo Koch was the lead presenter who touched a lot on the need for Communication Practitioners to contribute their quota to the development of the Church in their localities.
The goals of communication and use of legend for photos accompanying stories were analysed and participants were happy on knowledge gained.
Group sessions were held to test the knowledge of the attendees on what they have been taught on news writing for media broadcast and publication and the result was encouraging.
The presentation by Pastor Koch was impactful using power point and relevant pictures and graphics to drive home the points and essence of the advisory.
Attendees were equally given a DVD each containing so many materials to enhance the work of communication practitioners of the church and enhance a spirit filled worship service which is commendable.
The use of internet to get relevant materials and issues of copyright were dealt with thereby widening the knowledge of the participants. Some suggestions for the next meeting was suggested, like more time together.
