DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL K ITS IN ABOBO.
The children of Abobo benefited of school kits from the Children Ministries Department of the West-Central Africa Division.
On Sunday September 18th, 2016 the Cultural Action Center of Abobo witnessed a special event. Parents and students stormed the premises of the center under a clement sunny day. Around 9:30 a.m., the crowd in the hall prepared for the circumstance was getting larger. It was at 10:30 a.m. that Pastor Jean-Louis Bridji, the district Pasteur, came on stage and having presented the importance of this ceremony, acknowledged the courage and the initiative taken by Mrs. Sessou Omobonike to support the needy children of Abobo as we approach the beginning of school year. According to the pastor, this demarche responds to the mandate we have entrusted to the Lord Jesus Christ, namely to have compassion for the needy and help them in a spirit of love. However, he deplored the absence of several of those on whom the choice was to receive the kits. Thus, he said: “The number would have been more than the one we have this morning if the population diligently contacted by our teams had confident in our project. Today it has come to pass with those who believed in us… ”
After this short presentation, the president of the Côte d’Ivoire Conference offered the opening prayer followed by songs of the singing groups, ‘’Les Rossignols de l’Espoir’’ and ‘’Freedom Singers’’ who came to support this gathering by their presentations. Thus, after the speech of the main organizer Mrs. Sessou, came the prayer session led by pastor Sessou, Mrs. Fofana Thérèse and Tabitha Kra. They committed respectively the school year, parents, students and even the educational system in God’s care.
Then came on stage some of the guests to express their gratitude toward the organizers. M. Koné representative of the Minister of Education for Abidjan 4 stressed on the importance of children and thanked the kind gesture of the donors. Pastor Bindas, representing the President of the Division laid emphasis on the kind of education parents should give to children. He also thanked Mrs. Sessou for her action toward the needy and encouraged them to make good use of the materials they received.
Present at this ceremony, in addition to the above mentioned persons, were the treasurer of Côte d’Ivoire Conference, Elder Innocent A., the representative of the Commissioner of Police of 15ème arrondissement ( Adobo), the representative of COSIM (Abobo), M. Dehima Kouassi, from National Forum of Religious Confessions and many more others.
M. Mbra N’guessan thanked the organizers and the Seventh-day Adventist Church for what they did for the children in Abobo district.
In all 127 children from primary 1 to A. level pupils and students received their school kits. They welcomed the choice that was worn on them and thanked the donors and the Church for their action on their behalf.
The ceremony ended around 1:30 p.m. after the final prayer said by Pastor Paul Baka A., the President of the Côte d’Ivoire Conference. Mrs. Sessou then offered a cocktail to all the guests.
