Continuity Session
Delegates chose to maintain the former administration during the sixth Assembly held from 11 to14 January, 2017 in Maroua.
Pastor Hendjana Tchanaga Richards was re-elected as the President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Northern Cameroon. He will continue serving with his former collaborators; pastor Isaac Babba and pastor David Tchamaya Ndoumié respectively as Executive Secretary and Treasurer. The 500 regular and non-regular delegates who came for the sixth administrative assembly from all over Northern Cameroon Conference gathered from the 11 to 14 January 2017, in Maroua. Having evaluated what had been done for the past years by the outgoing administration; delegates chose to appoint the same leaders for 4 years mandate to lead the Conference.
Pastor Assembe Valère, President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cameroon supervised all the discussions that went on. The theme of this meeting was “Reach the World.” He thanked the Lord on behalf of the President of the Conference and his two other collaborators. “According to Pastor Valère, “the work accomplished in the Northern Cameroon Conference is a miracle.” In fact, the activities of the terrorists group Boko Haram against the Extreme-Northern Cameroon communities since 2013 contributed to the closure of some churches and displacement of the population. The Seventh-day Adventist Church recorded on the 17th September 2015, the violent elimination of seven Adventists from Aïssa-Hardé village, a town about 10 kilometers from Mora.
All the participants thanked God for His protection and support during these feverish and shaking moments. We had very few changes at the departmental levels and even the administrative units, because the Northern Conference is planning to be reorganized in three Conferences.
