CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR CHILDREN AT RISK.
In concert for the occasion, Les Rossignols de l’Espoir, on Saturday, May 28th 2016.
On Saturday, May 28th 2016, the Department of the Children Ministries of the West-Central Africa Division organized a concert for the Children at risk at “Latrie Even” in Abidjan Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. For this, were called the Rossignoles de l’Epoir, a group of eleven young ladies and Madam Santé who sang for this occasion.
After the welcome address and the opening prayer led by the treasurer Elder Emmanuel Manu, representative of the President of the Division, Pastor Elie Weick DIDO, the eleven young ladies and Madam Santé sang unto the glory of the Lord in front of hundreds of people from all the District of Abidjan who attended the concert. They all called to a change and to the love for one another. Taking advantage of this occasion, Madam Omobonike Adeola SESSOU, the Children Ministries Director of the West-Central Africa Division gave the sense of the concert and appealed to all that came to pay attention of the situation of the Children at risk that we have everywhere around us, those that are abandoned by our society. In her address, she called the attention of the authorities to more efforts to sustain those who care of these children and at the same time thanked them for what they have been doing for a better involvement of some of the children at risk. Attended this ceremony, the representative of the Mayor of Cocody Mr. Ndabian, Municipal Councilor of Cocody, Imam Koné, representative of the National Forum of the Religious Confessions of Côte d’Ivoire with his entourage, and also Pastor Doctor S. Mfune, Associate Director, Children Ministries Department of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
This event took place in Cocody at “Latrie Even”, a residential area in Abidjan and was covered by the National TV station of Côte d’Ivoire and transmitted after with all the interviews of course.
For Madam Tabitha KRA, the concert was a success and she has planned to organize one in her Union to draw the attention of the authorities and the parents on the issue of the children at risk. The Director of the Children Ministries of the East Sahel Union Mission deplored the fact that for years, we have ignored the potential of children to raise awareness for the cause of their friends in distress.
At the end of the concert, the Children Ministries Director, Madam Omobonike Sessou offered a potluck to her guests.
